Idle observation
Dec. 17th, 2005 05:14 pm(Some of you may possibly find this amusing; some will just shrug; and some (the largest subset, I shouldn't wonder) will have no idea what I'm on about. C'est, as they say, la vie.)
The Kansas City Royals are unlikely to win anything that matters next year, but if they were to sign Nomar Garciaparra to play shortstop they would be pretty well guaranteed to have the most letters in their infield, possibly in all of Major League history. I cannot, off the top of my head, think of a suitable third baseman to complete the set.
(For those of you who have some idea what this is about but haven't actually been following the off-season closely, they recently signed first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz and second baseman Mark Grudzielanek.)
