Why I hate NStar and love my TiVo
Nov. 15th, 2005 01:51 pmA couple of weeks ago, we received one of those letters we occasionally get from NStar (our beloved supplier of electricity) informing us that the power would be turned off for some maintenance function sometime between 1:00 and 3:00 AM on November 14th or 15th. But then, a couple of days later, we got a (recorded) phone call from them saying that they would be turning off the power briefly either that night or the next; and sure enough, two mornings later we woke up to find that our non-battery-operated clocks were all 20 minutes or so behind.
We therefore assumed that they had moved up the scheduled maintenance. So yesterday (which was, remember, November 14) we woke up to discover that our non-battery-operated clocks were once again 20 minutes or so behind -- which resulted in
jwg almost being late for a meeting. More annoyingly, it caused us to lose the last 7 minutes of Part I of the Masterpiece Theater show about Queen Elizabeth I.

Still, I wish NStar would knock it off.
