I went to Gloucester today ([livejournal.com profile] jwg is in the last stages of recovering from a cold, so he didn't go) to plant the second crop of peas and the first crops of lettuce and beets. I was pleased to discover that the peas I planted on Friday before last have already come up. I should have taken the mulch off the strawberries (which have grown up through it anyway), but I ran out of time.

Dinner tonight had a bit of a Gloucester theme, I guess:

Baked bluefish with lime, horseradish, & dill (bluefish are often caught locally)

Steamed potatoes with butter and rosemary (the rosemary is borrowed from Gloucester for the winter)

Sauteed snow peas and mushrooms (some of the peas I planted were snow peas -- Whole Foods didn't have any snap peas)

Baby romaine salad (our romaine isn't even baby, it's embryonic)

Simple, quick, and reasonably tasty.

Penny Lane and I could probably make it for dinner tonight! I miss bluefish.

But I wouldn't have time to get back for dim sum tomorrow, so regrets.
