Anticipating the harvest
Apr. 15th, 2010 08:10 pmI went to Gloucester today (
jwg is in the last stages of recovering from a cold, so he didn't go) to plant the second crop of peas and the first crops of lettuce and beets. I was pleased to discover that the peas I planted on Friday before last have already come up. I should have taken the mulch off the strawberries (which have grown up through it anyway), but I ran out of time.
Dinner tonight had a bit of a Gloucester theme, I guess:
Baked bluefish with lime, horseradish, & dill (bluefish are often caught locally)
Steamed potatoes with butter and rosemary (the rosemary is borrowed from Gloucester for the winter)
Sauteed snow peas and mushrooms (some of the peas I planted were snow peas -- Whole Foods didn't have any snap peas)
Baby romaine salad (our romaine isn't even baby, it's embryonic)
Simple, quick, and reasonably tasty.

My userpic for this post is of the farm.
