I no longer take photographs -- my camera is ancient, and I haven't touched it in quite a while -- but at this time of year I kind of wish I did, not that they would really capture the amazing quality of the afternoon light at this latitude at this time of year. Even though I have a cold and am mostly keeping indoors, on days like yesterday and today -- crisp, cloudless -- I had to go out on the porch right before sunset to experience first-hand that particular golden glow that makes September and especially October New England's most beautiful time of year.

[livejournal.com profile] jwg took some pictures yesterday -- maybe he'll post them.

Sometimes those ancient cameras take some of the best pictures. You should dig it out and give it a try.

If not, feel free to send it to me. I'll make sure it still gets some use out of it. :-)

My principal objection to it is that it's heavy. God only knows if I can still get batteries for it. And I have digital-camera envy -- film has to processed, prints/slides have to be stored, etc.

Not to mention that I'm not sure where it is.

You reminded me to post my own photos from this morning. It is a lovely time of year. I'm starting to enjoy the fall more than I used to, now that I've learned how to prevent the shortening days from getting me down, and I've stopped dreading winter.
