Africa vignette #10

This lion had seemed content to just sit and pant for a long time, but later on when we are near a pool or stream (it's hard to tell which) we seem him approaching to get a drink. There are a couple of cranes (and another bird, I forget what) near the water, but as the lion starts to make his leisurely way across the field toward them, they move off, casually and without haste, to hang out a moderate distance away.

We were in Tanzania (and Kenya, briefly), in late May/early June. For some reason I can't explain I've been writing my "vignettes" in the present tense. If you want to see lots of pictures you should look at jwg's journal.

Cool. All in good fun, but when I returned to fj's entry to call you "sir" the posts were gone.

I will go enjoy the pictures. Not a thing wrong with present tense, but I did find it odd you were having time to hang out with lions AND comment in LJ.
