[livejournal.com profile] jwg and I went to see a movie yesterday, for the first time in quite a while. The movie we saw was The Kite Runner, which we both thought was quite good, but that's not why I'm posting.

There was the usual string of trailers preceding the main show, and very shortly into the first one we looked at each other and said "Diva"? Sure enough, it was a trailer for Diva -- not, as far as I can tell, a remake, but a rerelease of the 1981 original.

Is the movie industry in even worse shape than I thought? Why would somebody decide that this 27-year-old movie should be appearing in "first run" theaters at this particular moment?
