In Gloucester, that is. God only knows why.

Well, we do know... there's still stuff to be taken care of, like [livejournal.com profile] jwg wants to finish the first coat of paint on the garage doors, and we have to put the new borders on the newly-tilled lower strawberry bed, plus a few other things.

Also, the new mattress finally arrived on Tuesday, and we have to get some use out of it. As it happened, since we both had Boston-or-Cambridge meetings on Tuesday night, we didn't sleep on our new mattress for its first night in the house. All of The People did, however -- which made for some interesting negotiations when we finally went to bed last night, as there are now so many of them that there is hardly room for us.

I do have to say, though, that (on the basis of one night, anyway) the new mattress is a Great Improvement.

Yesterday was [livejournal.com profile] jwg's birthday, so it was just as well that we knew we would be staying in Cambridge that night so I knew when and where to wrap presents. Celebrations are not complete -- the Festive Birthday Dinner is waiting for a night when we know we won't be in Gloucester -- but we did celebrate the day by visiting the Peabody Essex Museum, which was fun (nice building), and where I treated him to a nice lunch. Then we came up here and took a nap, watched some stored-up TV over a glass of wine, and after supper (leftovers) watched the Astros finish off the Cardinals.

We expect to be here until Saturday -- the weather is supposed to be decent through Friday, and we have a wedding to attend up here on Saturday, followed by a dance in JP -- and then we'll see. The weather after tomorrow doesn't look great. I suspect that the Fall Migration will occur sometime next week.

In the compiled fan diary Faithful (which, if you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend)

I have read it. It was great fun.

What does it say about me that I still use phrases like "despite the fact that they beat us" or "Our starting pitching just sucks."?

My brother would say that you're too heavily invested. I would say that you understand how this stuff works.
