Last night we came home after a pleasant dinner at JalapeƱo's in downtown Gloucester, sat down in front of the TiVo and watched the latest episode of The West Wing, after which we segued (for something Completely Different) into the latest episode of Desperate Housewives. However, we weren't more than 10 minutes into it when everything went dark.

Yes, everything. The lights then flickered briefly, went out, and came on again for about a minute. Then, nothing. I don't know how widespread an area was out, but we couldn't see any lights anywhere, including across the river in West Gloucester.

A little scanning on a battery-powered radio showed nothing but normal programming, so clearly this wasn't another Great Northeastern Blackout. But there wasn't a whole lot we could do sitting around in the living room, so after a while we decided to go to bed, early though it was. Then, just as I was finishing up brushing my teeth, the power came back on. So I stayed up for a few more minutes to check email and LJ, and then went to bed. The power was out for about 45 minutes altogether.

Here's the problem, though: the power loss occurred at about 9:45, which means that the TiVo had no way to record the last 15 minutes of Desperate Housewives. Does anyone local have a copy of last night's episode?

I didn't catch or tape West Wing yet this season. Anything I should know? ;-)

Hmm... the search for the person in the White House who leaked the secret about the military shuttle repair crew is heating up: the journalist who printed it is going to jail rather than reveal his source, and the writers are trying so hard to make it look like it's C.J. that I'm pretty sure it isn't. The teaser for next week makes it look like it's going to be revealed then.

The Santos campaign is in disarray, partly because Josh is incapable of delegating -- Donna applied for a job as his deputy, and he turned her down. Josh and Santos want to concentrate on domestic economic issues, and the White House keeps sabotaging them for internal reasons.

C.J. changed her hair -- it's much darker. I don't like it.

Stockard Channing has yet to appear this season. What's up with that?
