Yeah, yeah, I know I said they'd be insane to have him pitch again, but... well, I'm glad they're insane.

Proper over-the-top melodrama, of course, would have had him pitch (and win) Game 7. Sometimes the scriptwriters just screw up.

that shot of the blood soaking through his sock was pretty scary, though.
i just hope he didn't do anything that'll permanently end his career.

As far as I can figure out, that blood was leaking from the sutures that had been used to keep the tendon from slipping. That procedure sounds pretty scary, but I'm guessing that the blood itself was incidental.

He's not stupid, so I don't think he'd have done it if he really thought there was significantly likelihood of permanent, irreparable damage. On the other hand, his career probably has no more than four years remaining at best, so maybe he was prepared to go for broke.

I have no idea what really goes on in his head.
