A couple of early playoff notes

Well, having the Red Sox win on the road and the Yankees lose at home has to be good, right? (Although I still can't reconcile wanting the Yankees to lose and not wanting to play the Twins.)

On the other hand, it's only one game.

Friendly advice to Sammy Sosa: Shut up.

Y'all are going to hate me!

I'm rooting for a Midwest Series: Minnesota and St. Louis.

Well, I may or may not hate you for that, but the Fox Sports folks surely will. An all-Midwest Series is their worst nightmare.

Anything that fucks over Fox and Rupert Murdoch is a great thing in my book.

If you consider this a reason for preferring one baseball result over another, your priorities are really weird. Not that that comes as a surprise to anyone here, I imagine.

You provide a presumption of preference on my part.

if the yankees beat the twins, you don't want to play the yankees. so you might as well root for them to lose.

as for sammy sosa--he's really got the shovel out and is digging for china. but i want dusty and jim to leave steve stone alone, too. things are not pretty here.

Well, it's certainly true that our best hope is to play the winner. That's just how it goes; the same reasons I was hoping that we'd get the A's in the first round are the reasons they lost the division.

Still, does any rational person actually want to see more Metrodome baseball?

My advice to Sosa could reslly be extended to most players, especially ones who are unhappy. Talking to the press is all but guaranteed to make you come out looking bad.

things are not pretty here.

Think Nomar's going to stay?

it'd be interesting to see whether we make it as far as playing houston. 'cause defeating roger would make it even sweeter.
