A secret "benefactor"?

I have now received the three most recent issues of the Advocate. The mailing label indicates that the subscription runs through August of 2005. Now, my brain has developed a few holes here and there, but I think it would remember if it had bought a subscription to the Advocate. (Actually, if I thought my brain had done any such thing, I might decide it was due for trade-in for a more reliable model.)

So the only logical conclusion is that somebody decided that I needed the Advocate, and anonymously gave me a sub. I can't imagine who it might have been.

oh, i dunno... the advocate is something you might actually read, so it can't be the usual suspects.

Or they're desperate and giving away their own subscriptions. I intentionally let mine run out ('cause between the real news outlets and LJ I see everything of interest there at least 2 weeks before the issue comes out), got the warning letters, and got the "last" issue shrinkwrapped in a different color nonbiodegradable plastic sleeve with the THIS IS REALLY YOUR LAST ISSUE WE MEAN IT THIS TIME insert.

Followed subsequently by at least 2 more issues of the damned thing.

Scientific American may or may not have been doing that to me; I've lost track of the actual expiry date and can't be bothered to look it up. But, if so, it's actually been useful for them, because I really was waffling over whether to let my subscription... which I've had for 10 years, no less... lapse.

It was suggested to me in email (thanks, YKWYA) that it might be the result of my giving money to NGLTF, which is plausible.

once you're on a mailing list...

Recruitment....

I think that the "Men in Pink" are trying to recruit more to the "Cause," but due to mishandling of information did not realize that you have already been "converted."

Actually, there's a good chance it's from A.Z. in California. He used to give me a subscription, but then switched it to Roy.
