thankfully, the new owners blasted the central AC and generously provided much much much liquid refreshment (in addition to the large food spread and the ice cream run and other attempts to convince us it was worth it).
Our dance doesn't run during the summer either (except for one dance in late July), but we were unable to schedule any dates for September this year, so rather than wait until October to start the season we had the first "fall" dance in August. It was lightly attended, and a lot of the time at least as many people were sitting out rather than dancing, both of which I blame on the weather.
