Thanksgiving Dinner 2025
Nov. 27th, 2025 09:03 pmWe made it through another year, and here's what we ate to celebrate.
Brie d'Isigny
Matiz sardines with sweet piquillo peppers
Mixed nuts
Assorted crackers
Roasted Cornish game hen with hazelnut stuffing
Yam casserole with cranberries
Roasted acorn squash with ginger and shallot
Trader Joe's dinner rolls
Tossed salad with balsamic vinaigrette
Haut-Médoc "Reserve Series" 2022
Market Basket chocolate cream tart
Blueberry tea
As at last Christmas, we had hoped to roast a duck, but we had not succeeded in finding one, even 10 days ahead, so we went with Cornish hens again. I note that last time I roasted them for 50 minutes, but when I checked the temperature at 50 minutes this time I determined that they were not quite done, so I let them go another 5-10 minutes and they were perfect. Maybe they were a little bigger than last year's; by the time I thought to check their weight, I had discarded the outer wrapping.
I had never tried this particular treatment of acorn squash before, and we both liked it a lot; I'll probably do it again sometime, although grating the ginger is a tiresome task.
Everything was delicious, and we have leftovers (except for the dessert).
