Post-season follies
Oct. 7th, 2025 10:14 amI have season tickets to the Red Sox, which means that I get an opportunity to buy my regular seats for the post-season, if the Sox happen to make it. I got the usual email about this sometime in late August or early September, and after the usual round of procrastination I clicked on the link and went through the process of claiming my seats and authorizing them to charge me exorbitant amounts at a later date.
Or so I thought; I kept getting reminder emails, but I assumed they were automatic and didn't mean that I hadn't done it. But then as the end of the season approached, I looked at my account and couldn't see any signs of the post-season tickets, so I emailed my account rep and asked why I wasn't seeing them. She replied that as far as she could see I had never ordered them (my guess is that I missed one final confirmation click), but she would see what she could do about getting me some tickets to some of the games.
Several days of silence, so I assumed she had been unsuccessful. I spent the following week in Greece (which I had not told her I was doing), and as we were sitting down to dinner on Wednesday she called me on the phone(!) to say that she'd been able to get two tickets to the two Division Series home games (tonight and tomorrow), and did I still want them? The seats were actually slightly better than our usual ones, too, so of course I said yes. I was also glad that she had called at 11 AM her time rather than say, 5 PM, since we were seven hours ahead.
And then the Yankees happened, and I don't get to use them anyway. Such is life.
