We generally listen to WGBH whenever (1) we're home and out of bed and (2) they're playing classical music -- which means from whenever we get up until 4:00 PM on weekdays and until noon an weekends. But on New Year's Day they switch at 11:00 AM to the annual New Year's Day concert from Vienna, which means all Johann Strauss all the time, which gets tired very quickly. So I was not altogether surprised when the radio suddenly fell silent as I was finishing brushing my teeth after breakfast. Then a moment later -- possibly partially inspired by my having insisted that if we were going to spend an extra $100 on a receiver that could take phonograph input, we had damn well better listen to some records now and then -- on came the Beatles Rubber Soul. As I returned to the computer room, I remarked, "It's 1965 again!"
