2) Alaska - Up the inside passage and back by ferry
3) Arizona - Used to go to Phoenix for business once in a while. One tourist trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
4) Arkansas - Visited its "territorial waters" (boat ride on the Mississippi out of Memphis)
5) California - Many visits to Bay Area, slightly fewer to LA area; a few traverses by train
6) Colorado - Two summers in Aspen as a late-teenager; a week in Estes Park; a visit to a friend outside Colorado Springs
7) Connecticut - Have visited friends there; passed through many times by car or train; eaten many a lunch at Rein's in Vernon
8) Delaware - passed through by train, but only in the dark
9) Florida - A number of visits to Miami and Ft. Lauderdale area; twice to the Everglades, once each to Key West and Sanibel/Captiva
10) Georgia - Several visits to the Atlanta area
11) Hawaii - A couple of days in Honolulu as part of a chorus tour in college; five days on Kauai in 1998
12) Idaho - passed through by train at night
13) Illinois - A couple of visits to Chicago, and one to the central part of the state
14) Indiana - passed through by train
15) Iowa - passed through by train
16) Kansas - passed through by train (mostly at night)
17) Kentucky
18) Louisiana - one visit to New Orleans
19) Maine - many weekends
20) Maryland - passed through by train, but only in the dark
21) Massachusetts - Lived here all my adult life
22) Michigan - One visit to Detroit
23) Minnesota - A five-hour visit to Minneapolis/St. Paul (between a train and a plane)
24) Mississippi - passed through by train
25) Missouri - passed through by train
26) Montana - passed through by train (all day)
27) Nebraska - passed through by train (mostly at night)
28) Nevada - two visits to Las Vegas
29) New Hampshire - Many visits
30) New Jersey - My parents lived in Fort Lee from 1976 until 1995; numerous visits to other parts
31) New Mexico - Two trips to Santa Fe to visit a friend (who no longer lives there), plus one traverse by train
32) New York - Born there (NYC), and lived there until college. Many visits since.
33) North Carolina - Driving tour along Blue Ridge last November
34) North Dakota - passed through by train
35) Ohio - passed through by train
36) Oklahoma
37) Oregon - several visits to Portland in early 1990s; one north-south traverse by train (including several-hour unscheduled stop in the middle of the Cascades)
38) Pennsylvania - My brother has lived in Philadelphia since 1969, and my parents since 1995, so many visits. Also one trip to Pittsburgh.
39) Rhode Island - A couple of visits, plus numerous train traverses
40) South Carolina - passed through by train at night when 8 years old
41) South Dakota
42) Tennessee - one long weekend in Memphis. Briefly stepped over the border during NC trip
43) Texas - Attended a conference in Austin -- before I knew anyone there, damn it
44) Utah - Drove through on the way between Las Vegas and Grand Canyon, with several-hour stopover in Zion National Park
45) Vermont - Many visits
46) Virginia - Spent some time there iincidental to visits to DC
47) Washington - A couple of trips to/through Seattle; one south-to-north and one west-to-east traverse by train
48) West Virginia
49) Wisconsin
50) Wyoming

51) District of Columbia - three visits (one at 17, the others much later)
