Peas and lettuce planted
Apr. 22nd, 2014 11:51 pmTo follow up to this post, we did in fact go to Gloucester today to plant the peas, beets, and lettuce, plus the plants from Burpee. I fear that the delphiniums, which unlike the others were sent in a flat and in consequence got somewhat dried out, will not make it; I hope I'm wrong. I've tried many times, without success, to grow delphiniums from seed, and I was happy to find someone who would sell me a set of 6 (mixed, dwarf) at a reasonable price. Might have to try again next year.
I put them in the bed that I converted to shade-tolerant perennials last year, in which I thought the Chrysogonum was the sole survivor, but while looking for a place to put the delphiniums I discovered that two of the three blackberry lilies were alive and showing a bit of leaf.
Meanwhile, it feels very strange to be putting in the first crop of peas and lettuce on April 22.
