I hope somebody will have reliable peaches
Jul. 1st, 2010 11:48 pmToday was the second Thursday this season for the Gloucester farmer's market, and we noticed that one of the larger produce vendors that's been there in past years, Cider Hill Farm was not there either last week or this. So we asked the folks at the "front desk", and they said that Cider Hill had decided not to participate this year.
This is distressing. They always had a lot of stuff, including excellent fruit, and they had peaches that were reliably excellent from mid-July until early September. (We've learned that supermarket peaches are rarely worth bothering with.) There are several smaller produce stands; I hope one of them will fill the gap (but it's not encouraging that nobody had raspberries this week).
