Between the Patriots and the Red Sox, I'm beginning to have some idea of what it's like to be a Yankee fan. I hope I never get to the stage of assuming that the team is going to win as by right.
It is a fun stage to pass through. I lived in the Bay Area in the early 90's with the Joe Montana 49'ers and the Mark McGuire/Jose Canseco/Ricky Henderson A's. We weren't (usually) cocky about it the way that New York teams tend to be, it was just a treat to know that our guys were great sportsmen and when opponents would come to town they would put forward their best effort.
On the other hand, perhaps it is why I now must suffer to live in the Buffalo region -- with a team that will do whatever it takes to lose a game in the final moments.
