Annoying waste disposal (or lack thereof)
Jan. 27th, 2005 11:58 amSo
jwg saw on the Cambridge city web site that there was to be no garbage pickup on Monday, and everything else would be pushed back a day (just like when Monday's a holiday). So we didn't put our trash out on Tuesday night, even though the apartment building across the street did.
Then sometime early Wednesday afternoon, a garbage truck came down the street and picked up the trash from across the street. Checked the web site again, still says the same thing. So we figured maybe the place across the street had some special arrangement. But when we looked out last night, nobody else on the street had trash out waiting to be picked up. So we decided that the city had just screwed up and put bad information on their web site (or changed their mind and forgot to update the site). This week's garbage is in a bag on the porch waiting for next week.
But we noted that we had not seen a recycling truck, so we figured that maybe the recycling would come today. Then we promptly forgot about it until about 5 minutes ago, when the recycling truck came down the street.
Oh, well, the papers will keep.
