Africa vignette #5
Jun. 9th, 2008 08:56 pmThe sycamore fig is a friend to everyone. This enormous one overhangs the road in Lake Manyara National Park, and it's full of baboons. The figs grow in clusters, so as each baboon grabs one, the rest of the cluster falls. Some of them hit the roof of the vehicle with a clunk, but most reach the ground, where they are consumed by elephants on the right side of the road, or warthogs on the left.
