Mystery of the cosmos -- partial solution

Remember the cosmos? Well, when we went up yesterday to close the house for the winter, one of the buds had opened.

It looks to be the exact same color as the ones that had bloomed earlier.

Next year, if possible, I'll get my Bright Lights from a different source.
