(I thought I had posted this the other day, but apparently I screwed it up.)

On Saturday night, as we were walking down Cuba Street, Wellington's "funky" (or maybe "scruffy" on its way to "trendy" if it's lucky) downtown street in search of dinner, we saw a sign indicating that "EEF-JAY'S ADULT SHOP" was upstairs.

[livejournal.com profile] jwg didn't have his camera with him, and we left Wellington the next morning, so there was no opportunity to document this photographically, so you'll have to take my word for it. Of course, if we had taken a picture, there's no knowing what might have happened to that second E by the time it got posted.

As we were walking to the car after the last in a short series of winery visits (yes, we were safe to drive, thank you), we were stopped by two women about our age in a car that was pulling into the lot, who wanted to ask us where the cheese shop associated with the winery was; but before they could do that, they made the obligatory remark about our obviously being brothers. When we assured them that we were not, but that people often thought we were, they (well, the one who was doing the talking, anyway) replied, "Oh, yes, we get that all the time as well."

I confess to being a bit puzzled by this -- these are exactly the people who should know what we really are. Maybe they were just sending a signal.

We ran into them again this evening at dinner in Napier -- they're heading south while we head north, and then they're off to Australia. Siblinghood was not mentioned on this second encounter.
