I've decided (somewhat arbitrarily) to include only states in which I've actually set foot (even if that only means a station platform, but airports don't count) and not ones that I've only passed through, even if I've seen the latter. Hence the inclusion of MT, ND, and MS, but not ID, IA, MO, NB, KS, IN, OH, DE, MD, and SC.
